Blätterwirbel Spezial

“Blätterwirbel: Literature at its best in St. Pölten,” writes the Austrian newspaper Kurier about the well-loved festival. “Blätterwirbel” is an initiative of the Landestheater Niederösterreich with partners and support from Lower Austria and its capital St. Pölten. Initiated in 2006 by a group of literature and theatre enthusiasts, it has become a permanent fixture in Lower Austria’s cultural landscape and offers a comprehensive programme on all facets of literature every October. The events take place in the Landestheater, Stadtmuseum, Cinema Paradiso and many other places in St. Pölten. 

On the initiative of Tangente, there will be three “Blätterwirbel Spezial” events for the first time in 2024, which will tie in with the festival’s thematic fields in terms of content. The three events will be curated by Renate Kienzl, co-initiator and co-organisator of the series. “Blätterwirbel Spezial” will explore literature’s take on Tangente’s focuses on ecology, memory and democracy. The third evening will also be the opening of “Blätterwirbel 2024”. All three evenings will take place at the Tangente Festival Centre.

Thus, “Blätterwirbel Spezial” will begin an exciting journey into the realm of literature with international and local writers, all of whom will be dealing with currently prevalent themes.
