Description
Multimedia video analogization station (workshop) "Collective cassette archive - VHS Paradise" with Ludwig A. K. Merza
The service point "Multimedia Video Analogization Station" offers you the archiving of your favourite digital videos (in connection with the Löwinnenhof*) as VHS cassettes in the START room. Your videos are then sent through various adapters and devices until they are played on the magnetic tape of the VHS cassette and thus archived in analog form for future generations. VHS expert Ludwig Merza shares his technical knowledge and assists with the process.
"Playing a digital video on a VHS and thus analogizing it is a regressive way of documentation in a technical but especially in a chronological sense. But it is more than that. It is a transformative conversion of the original signal and when viewing it, it is always combined with a unique haptic experience. In the end, the specific VHS look, regardless of the content, is in itself a trigger for feelings and memories that lie dormant on the cassette tapes, waiting to be played." - Ludwig A. K. Merza
You can come along during opening hours without making an appointment. No previous knowledge is required, just bring your Löwinnenhof* videos with you. The analogized videos will become part of the VHS archive in consultation with the ©-users and can thus be experienced by visitors in the charming 2-person cinema. On Saturday, September 7, there will be a film evening in the Löwinnenhof* with the collected videos - you are welcome to participate in the curation and moderation. Bring your loved ones and movie friends!
