Description

How does it feel to be a teenager in 2024? Going to school in times of covid, climate crisis, news of war, while performing on social media, thinking about the future and still somehow functioning psychologically and physically –how is that supposed to work?

In recent years, young people have increasingly taken to the streets again: for Fridays for Future, Letzte Generation (last generation) or Black Lives Matter. They have made their voices heard and are discussing how wide-spread participation of youth in politics, art, culture and society can be realized. In many areas of life, because of socio-cultural and economic givens, some young people have fewer opportunities than their peers – let alone older generations. If the future of democratic society is to be shaped by young people, they must be allowed to participate today. Including the 6.300 residents of St. Pölten between the ages of 15 and 24, stemming from different backgrounds, origins and languages, who live and dream and fight for their future.

Tangente gathers initiatives, alliances and groups, where young people can meet, exchange their ideas, live out their creativity and also just let go and have fun, for a big rally in St. Pölten.

Before the national elections, students and young adults start an open process with art workshops, exchange and get-togethers. They network, express their needs and develop the content and format of the rally. During the rally, the city belongs to them and the adults have to listen.
